What can I do on Coll ?
What you CAN'T do easily on Coll:
- Get stuck at traffic lights
- Shop 'til you drop
- Spot trains
- Read today's newspaper (it usually arrives tomorrow !)
Easy walking and cycling (if you don't bring the car) amidst
wild flowers, heather and lochans is popular with many visitors.
Although remote, almost everything you could wish for is
available apart from a mobile phone signal and a department store. There is a
well-stocked village store, a pottery, a furniture-makers' workshop, an artist's
studio - classes can be arranged in advance through the hotel, as can bicycle
hire, taxis and golf clubs (the island has a nine hole course used by both
locals and visitors).
May-June are the perfect months to hear the elusive
corncrake......if you are lucky and Coll is also the perfect place for more
active pursuits such as kite-flying, sand sculpture, wind-surfing and
boogie-boarding.
